LAYORI est née au Nigeria. Elle a ensuite émigrée à New York avec sa famille. Puis retourne au Nigéria réapprendre à vivre à l’africaine. À 16 ans, grand changement dans sa vie, Elle part pour Londres, puis au Portugal : clubs de jazz ou piano bars. En 2000, elle rejoint Munich. Des allers, des retours, des départs, des arrivées qui lui inspirent sans doute l’album ORIGIN. Deux guitares, une basse, des percussions, des chœurs, parfois des cuivres et des cordes encadrent parfaitement la voix de Layori. Elle y chante en trois langues : anglais, espagnol et yoruba. Sa voix puissante et fragile, comme dans « What Is Love » aux airs de mantra, lui fait dire « Les deux viennent des épreuves qu’on doit affronter lorsque l’on voyage constamment. Le coté fragile vient sûrement de mon mal du pays, quand l’amour et la protection de ma famille me manquent. » « D’une certaine manière, ORIGIN est pour moi comme un retour à la maison. Pendant toutes ces années passées à voyager autour du monde, mon âme africaine a toujours fait partie de moi. Jamais je ne ferai quelque chose qui soit contre ma culture, ma fierté, mes croyances, mes racines » Le résultat est en tout cas superbe à entendre !

Un son énorme dans le pop ce matin. Heart Beat premier single de l'album "No Longer At Ease" de la chanteuse nigérianne Nneka, installée à Hambourg, qui revient après un premier album Victim Of Truth en 2005. La Vidéo a été essentiellement tournée sur place à Lagos, au Nigéria. La plupart de ses paroles engagées amènent à la réflection, et elle tire ça de son enfance au Nigéria. « Je m’inspire des moments où je jette un regard grave sur la façon dont les choses fonctionnent dans notre monde ; et plus particulièrement dans mon pays."
